L’Ovile planned and carried out a series of events in order to communicate the various objectives and goals of the project and to promote it to different stakeholders and to local community.

Since the subject of the jail is always treated with distrust -because it scares-, L’Ovile traditionally does awareness raising talking in different contexts about the training of educators, good practices and social reintegration of inmates.

These are interesting opportunities to promote “Educate – Educators for Inclusive and Effective Reintegration of Inmate”.

In March 2017, while preparing the Italian training activity, L’Ovile presented to the local institutions the project and the importance of the exchange of good practices, sharing with stakeholders (Human Science Department of University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Municipality of Reggio Emilia, Prison of Reggio Emilia Probation Office – UEPE – Justice Department) the goals and the meaning of the collaboration with the European partners and involving them in training sessions.

Other disseminations opportunities for Educate took place in March 2017: a meeting with the Regional Councilor of Social Policies (Emilia Romagna Region); the Conference “Donne e carcere: normative ed esperienze a confronto” at the Law Department in Modena.

In May 2017 L’Ovile presented a book about the social reintegration of inmates and people that are in alternative measures to detention – written by the Cooperative and the University – in a conference at Human Sciences Department (Education) of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. This was another important opportunity to present Educate in order to spread this type of trasnational project. The project presentation took place also in the tv programme “Detto tra noi” on TRC Modena (Teleradiocittà). WATCH THE VIDEO
At the same time L’Ovile started a collaboration in a national group called “Emergenza Carcere” which aims to bring some issues (linked to the criminal world) to the attention of the Ministry of Justice. Even in that context the Cooperative presented the project.

On the 15th March 2018 the Ombudsman of Rights of Persons Deprived of Liberty of Emilia-Romagna Region visited L’Ovile and its facilities for persons in alternative measures to detention. During the meeting L’Ovile presented Educate project and shared first hypothesis for future dissemination to be developed within the project.

L’Ovile participated in the seminar “Oltre il carcere”, organized by Epale and which took place in Bari (Italy) on 12th June 2018. The cooperative presented Educate main goals and outputs, offering an overview of main training activities carried out within the project and good practices exchanged. WATCH THE VIDEO

Educate Project is mentioned in the essay “La cura educativa per il reinserimento sociale nell’Esecuzione Penale Esterna. Tra analisi e messa a punto del setting pedagogico” written by Laura Cerrocchi and Francesca Cavedoni and included in the book “Educazione in età adulta: ricerche, politiche, luoghi e professioni” by Paolo Federighi and Liliana Dozza, Firenze University Press, FUP.

On the 24th of September L’Ovile presented the results of “L’Ovile: 25 anni di riabilitazione in salute mentale” within the Week of Mental Health that took place in Reggio Emilia. According to the specific focus on mental health foreseen by the project, the cooperative brought its experience in the European project.

Starting from July 2018 L’Ovile started organizing the final event “Working with Persons Deprived of Liberty. How European good practice exchanges help and support educators to develop their knowledge, competences and activity”. Thanks to previous contacts, the Ombudsman of Rights of Persons Deprived of Liberty of Emilia Romagna Region manifested its interest in project’s results and outputs and hosted the final event in the headquarters of Emilia Romagna Region, promoting the meeting and producing communication materials.
